Helping Students Become Stronger, More Confident Readers.

I’m Cherie, a reading specialist, licensed special education teacher, and ELL-endorsed educator who provides individualized literacy instruction for students in grades K–12.

I specialize in evidence-based reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and spelling. My approach is informed by LETRS professional learning, explicit instructional practices developed by literacy experts such as Dr. Anita Archer, and the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

UDL helps me provide multiple ways for students to access information, stay engaged, and demonstrate what they know. This allows me to adapt instruction to each student’s strengths, needs, learning style, and language background.

Every student learns differently. I take the time to identify where reading is breaking down and provide structured, supportive instruction that builds both skills and confidence.

With nine years of experience in special education, I bring extensive knowledge of learning differences and how to adjust instruction for students who may need a different pathway to reading success.
